“Misyoshi Yoshiko is working her way as a model by doing various modeling gigs for her agency. After one of those gigs causes her to lose her job as a model, she now faces a desperate situation of being broke and unemployed. Things start to look up when she gets offered another modeling job, but this time it’s modeling for Chuujou Tarou, the lecherous sculptor who got her fired in the first place! How will Yoshiko handle working for a perverted employer who can’t keep his hands off her–not because he’s attracted to her, but because he likes her bone structure?!”
You might’ve noticed my lack of posts. I haven’t been reading a lot of manga lately, and I’ve been quite busy with my Kimi ni Todoke blog with the new season out and everything + real life. I’ve closed the ask box for now, but once I’m less busy, I’ll continue writing.
Thank you all who followed, though! I didn’t expect so many of you.
Shuukatsu! - Kimi ni Naitei - 10 chapters, Complete
“Life isn’t sweet… Asaoka Yuuri, a senior in university, has failed for the 49th time in job hunting. During an exam at the 50th company, which should be a commemoration for her, she came to know Manabe Ryouji, a famous law student at her university. Their first impression was horrible. But what will happen to Yuuri when she gets attracted to Manabe, who looks cool and can do everything to the point that it’s annoying…?!”
This manga is actually categorised under josei (women), because it focuses on a young woman in her 20’s, out looking for a job before she graduates from university. After like a billion rejections from every company is she interviewed from, she meets a man who has the upper hand in everything and of course that ticks her off. What ticks her off even more is that she ends up falling for him. But the thing is he plays an essential role in her life, be it encouraging her or helping her out, or cheering her up when her self esteem plummets to zero.. even though he acts like an arrogant douche most of the time.
I found the heroine pretty awesome. Despite the hundreds of failures that she encounters, she always picks herself up and tries again with determination. Her strength is really admirable.
The author also wrote Nonchan to Watashi. Actually I suggest you go read all her other works too, cos she’s just awesome like dat.

“Manabe is a an ex-model who feels insecure about herself. She wants to live a life unnoticed by others, so at school, she was called “corner girl” because she was always by herself, didn’t associate with anyone. It’s all changed when she accidentally meets a photographer who later turns out to be her teacher.”
GENIUS! For a one shot, this definitely stood out as a solid, smexy, and wholesome manga! Gawd! Highly recommendable!
Nothing less from the creator of Skip Beat and Tokyo Crazy Paradise!
Dengeki Daisy - 30 chapters, Ongoing

“No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.” Teru, who lost her only remaining relative, her older brother, is cheered on by a mail from an enigmatic person, DAISY, who she can contact via the cellphone her brother gave her. One day, through an unexpected incident, Teru ends up working as a servant for the delinquent school janitor, Kurosaki. But this scoundrel, Kurosaki is really…!?”
I got to say, this manga really is one of the best. It’s somewhat cliche, but also not your typical shoujo manga. You’ve got the tsundere male protagonist who loves the intelligent female protagonist with all his heart. The only way he is allowed to express his love is through anonymous heartwarming texts to her. The slapstick, raw humor will leave your sides with stitches. And I can guarantee you, each chapter will have a scene that will tug at your heartstrings and make you go “Kyuuuuu<3”.
Not to mention, it’s also action packed with complicating, thought-out schemes and immerses you in the world of technology, computers and hackers. All the characters are unique - such as your lovable restaurant owner who also happened to work under the military, a hot babe who will willingly whip your ass if you step out of line, a whole bunch of quirky classmates and your stalker-like school chairman.
Dengeki Daisy is simply amazing. A must-read. I really can’t find any flaws at all (besides the fact that the updates are a tad bit slow).
Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai - 4 Chapters, Completed
“A timid schoolgirl, who is isolated by everyone, doesn’t own a cellphone because she has no one to call. So she imagines owning a cellphone in her head, but one day, there is a connection — the phone rings, and someone is on the line!”
Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai is about two lonely people who connect to each other in the most unlikely way during their most desperate time of need. I found it very sweet in it’s own way how they are always there for each other, and have this supportive relationship that is only shared between the two. It’s a sad end for one of the main characters before their relationship could progress to anything more :(
This is actually a shounen manga, but might as well be called shoujo due to the nature of the storyline. It was adapted from a story written by Otsuichi. The version I’m writing about is actually the newer 2007 version than the older 1993 version, since I found it considerably better art-wise and the way it was presented more suitable.
A live action movie was also filmed based on the book, which I have yet to watch (but I definitely plan to!)
owlswearglasses asked: I love your blog, all the manga you recommend seems great! I've started reading "Crazy for You" and "Strange Orange" because I saw them here. Also, I've read two of the one shots that you posted.
Thank you for the recommendations. Keep it up! :)
Ahh thank you ;) That’s great to hear :)

I just read this recently and thought it was ridiculously adorable. No questions asked, just read it :) It has an especially cute ending.
